Beautiful cars, abundant sunshine, and family fun were on tap for the first ISC Relay for Life Car Show. The J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center in Suwanee, Ga, provided well-manicured lawns and facilities for the show.
The registration for this day of fun in the sun began early at 9 am, with many eager to get set up. The collectible automobiles and trucks displayed ran the gamut in both style and production era.
All of which delighted the passerby with a diverse range of eye candy to feast on. And feast they did to their heart’s content.
Of course, our vehicle of choice was front and center, thanks to the energetic contingency from Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta (CCA) and their ultra-clean Corvettes. Not to be outdone, the Atlanta Corvette Society was represented, as well as, several other non-affiliated Vette drivers.
Sponsors And Volunteers Step Up
By and large, the casual spectator walking the show is oblivious to the weeks of prep work that goes into an afternoon event. The truth of the matter is, to raise money for a charity, you have to have a strong core group of dedicated volunteers to pull it off.
A plucky attitude will only take you so far. Even with so many moving parts to juggle, the ISC event team stepped up to provide a fun event for everyone.
From the start, this family-friendly event had something for everyone. In addition to stylish trophies, they had food from Skips, Kona Ice, and even a “paint a car” event for the kids.
For their inaugural event, the vendor list showed how hard the team worked to make sure the financial side of the event was a success. Their sponsor list included Frazier Service, Buyavette, North Atlanta Slingshot rentals, Mall of Georgia, Budget Blinds, Spencer Heating & Air Conditioning, and CEI.
Mall of GA Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Rick Hendrick Chevrolet Duluth, Kroger, American Street Machines, and Cable East Inc, were also there. Also 9 Round Fitness, Agrisel USA, Inc, Will Henry’s Tavern, Atomic Tint Shop, and Will’s Auto Machine Shop, Inc.
The sponsor list continued with SS Paint Correction and Protective Coatings, 238 Motorsports, Pinehill discount Trophies, Amplifi, Willard’s Towing, and finally MainEvent.
All told, over 22 sponsors pledged their support for this worthy charitable event. In an age when most car shows struggle to find three or four sponsors, the ISC team has got this figured out.
Altogether they raised over $9,000 for the charity.
CCA Delivers Strong Support
Supporting local charities is at the heart of Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta. So, it wasn’t surprising to see their healthy turnout for the inaugural ISC Relay For Life event.
This group of Vette enthusiasts is always up for cruising over to support charities across the southeast. For years they have sought to identify individuals and charitable organizations that they can help through their fundraising efforts.
Clearly, their club members have the desire and strength of character to make a difference in the lives of others. This year their annual car show on October 8th, 2022, is one of their most significant fundraising events and one you shouldn’t miss.
We covered their event last year, and it was fun from start to finish. Here’s the article in case you missed the action: The Corvette Cruisers Of Atlanta Event Was Something Special.
CCA raises funds throughout the year through several innovative means. Currently, CCA has a Glock Gun Raffle going on as a fundraiser.
The grand prize drawing is for a Glock 48/9mm with a shooting package including 100 rounds of ammo, an NRA backpack shooting glasses with the case, and shooting earmuffs. The drawing is on July 11th, 2022, at 7 pm.
The tickets are $10.00 each with no purchase limit. There will be only 500 tickets available, and the winner need not be present to win.
Dash Digital Studios
Local businesses came out to enjoy the show and lend their support. Moncef from Dash Digital Studio was one such business owner, sporting his 2022 C8.R convertible.
In talking with Moncef, we were excited to learn that Dash Digital Studio is a creative agency that specializes in the digital arts. Their suite of expertise extends from photography, graphic design, web development, branding, and videography, to presentation deck design.
Periodically you’ve got to refresh your online business visuals. Perhaps you’re tired of working with stock images or templated websites; Dash Digital Studio should be an option for you to explore.
We’re always looking for ways to take our magazine’s visual impact to the next level. So we might be darkening the doorstep of Dash Digital Studio soon.
A Community Moment
The ISC Relay For Life event was more than a charity fundraiser with cool cars to admire. This was also a moment for the local community to mingle and soak in the abundant sunshine.
In what is undoubtedly a first for us, we close with a Gwinnett County School bus photo. Demetra and Rich had their school bus in the show to advertise employment opportunities to become school bus drivers.
Both Demetra and Rich were convincing in their sales pitch. In fact, if the bus came in Red Mist Metallic with Vossen forged wheels and Borla exhaust, we might have said yes.
What we found interesting was that Rich proudly owns a black fixed-roof coupe Corvette. So we know which bus we’d want to ride on if we were back in school.
There was a lot to enjoy with the first ISC Realy for Life car show. We hope the team makes this an annual event and Rich gets the upgrades to his school bus.
