Indy 500 winner Bobby Unser once said, “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.”
If that’s true, Ron Wallace and the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub Car Show have prepared well for their success.
Over its short time, this car show has quietly garnered a reputation for excellence among Atlanta car aficionados. A casual stroll among the impressive vehicles on hand will prove that statement true.
There are award-winning examples of several diverse genres parked around the well-manicured lawns of Crabapple Market. Each with its own illustrious story to tell, each vying for the coveted Best in Show award.
When talking with their seasoned judges, you get a sense of how razor-thin the differences are between those in any given category. So, although it’s great for spectators, it proves to be nerve-racking for the judging team.
In our estimation, you could have thrown a blanket over half a dozen of the finalists for Best in Show honors. Fortunately, they give out 20 trophies, one of which is the Best Corvette award.
Roswell Motoring Festival
They say you shouldn’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.
Well, if that’s true, then you need to clear your social calendar and make proper use of Saturday, October 1st, 2022. Why, might you ask?
The 3rd annual Roswell Motoring Festival is on Saturday, October 1st, at the Roswell City Hall. This exhilarating automotive celebration commences at 10:00 am and concludes at 3:00 pm at 38 Hill Street in Roswell.
While this show’s core remains dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of the automobile, there is also a compelling altruistic motive. This festival is a strong promoter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
As you know, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for catastrophic pediatric diseases through research and treatment.
Every year we clear our calendar for this special day of fun and celebration. For a deeper insight into the festival, consider our interview with its founder, Philip Carroll: Philip Carroll Brings Energy To The Upcoming Roswell Motoring Festival.
Olde Blind Dog Restaurant
We’re not card-carrying foodies per se, but if we were, we’d have our private table permanently reserved at the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub. This comfortable dining establishment brings the best of the Olde Sod of Ireland to Milton, Ga.
The menu is replete with authentic pub food such as shepherd’s pie, meatloaf, fish & chips, Pot Roast, corned Beef & Cabbage, and bangers & mash. But, more than just savory entrees and appetizers, The Olde Blind Dog is an immersive experience that places you in the heart of a wayside Irish country pub.
Hand-crafted dark wood abounds, as do the various nooks and historically accurate crannies to explore. Even the seating options add a special touch to the moment. There are half-booths, cozy “snugs,” traditional low & high-top tables, and small tables in the center of the rooms.
Everything seamlessly flows right down to the attentive wait staff and the perfect pour Guinness on tap. For those who genuinely know Guinness, you know how impossibly rare it is to find an establishment that can bring a perfect pour Guinness to your table.
Perhaps we are foodies where the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub is concerned, and you probably should be as well.
A Fast Show
Do you get fidgety after a few hours at a car show? You’re not alone.
While many Atlanta car events run five or six hours, the Olde Blind Dog show goes from only 11 am to 1 pm. In fact, they start the awards ceremony at 12:30.
Parking is first come, first served and begins at 10 am for show cars. There is free admission for spectators, and overflow parking is available in the new two-story parking garage.
Are you looking for a hot breakfast and cool drinks? Both are available mere steps away at the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub.
This show checks off all the boxes and is one where preparation and opportunity meet to produce success.
