Never one to rest on their laurels, Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta (CCA) developed a hybrid format for their 9th annual car show. What resulted was something special that has the potential to build for the future.
Known for their All-Corvette shows, the CCA events committee decided to change things this year by including Camaro’s to the marque. You can get the backstory in our article titled, “CCA Brings Corvette/Camaro Car Show To Lawrenceville In October 2021.”
There were other changes as well for 2021. Most important in our estimation was the electronic scoring app, “Driven to Show” created by systems developer Nick Gins.
This new program allows judges to score each car in many areas via an app on their phones. Then, each car’s judging results are tabulated and ranked in real-time.
This paperless system has tremendous functionality and expandability built-in. Also, it tabulates the winners automatically and provides a printable copy of the judging breakdown for each car.
The “Driven to Show” app is a game-changing innovation that will quickly become an indispensable tool for all car shows, everywhere.
As for the show itself, it went off with the same level of uninterrupted precision that we’ve come to appreciate from CCA. More importantly, though, it was a rousing good time!
All Hands On Deck
Sunrise was still an hour away when the Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta team descended on the C3 Church parking lot. It was apparent this was an “all-hands-on-deck” event for this active Lawrenceville-based Corvette club.
Dressed in bright yellow event shirts, they made quick work of unloading their club-owned cargo trailer. With almost 40 club members arriving to help, the adage, “Many hands make light work,” was on display.
Something else was clearly on display as well.
Among the team, there was genuine excitement about hosting an event for the Corvette / Camaro community. This desire to give back has always been the hallmark of this club, and it was evident throughout the event.
“Open Roads Design” & “Open Roads Customs”
It’s a match made in heaven. You’ve got Katie Falanga designing beautiful show boards and Chris Falanga bringing his skill set for customing cars.
Together this dynamic duo provides a one-stop-shopping experience for those who want to up their car show game. We were so impressed with this family team that we covered them in our Winning The Falanga Family Way article.
Appropriately called “Open Roads Customs,” Chris has years of experience bringing home trophies on the local show circuit. Katie’s understands it’s not about impressing judges or car show-goers; it’s about putting your dreams and passion on display for the world to see.
As we said, together, this is an impressive team that can handle all your car show aspirations.
C3 Church Delivers
Finding the right venue to hold a car show is a daunting task. Fortunately, the great people of the C3 Church at 1065 Walther Blvd NW in Lawrenceville made their pristine facilities available for the event.
As a part of the C3 Church campus, the C3 fitness facilities provide a full-service gym. In addition, Taylor and Jon from C3 fitness opened their doors to car show attendees throughout the day.
Their impressive facilities house everything you would need to start you on the path to fitness. The offerings are a complete array of specialty machines, treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, and stationary bikes.
C3 fitness also has a dedicated plate weight area, featuring free weight dumbbells, a squat rack, a flat and incline bench press, and a variety of assisted weight lifting equipment. Personal trainers are also available.
To top it all off, Taylor and Jon are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. That in itself is a reason to consider making this facility your fitness home.
Mid-Alabama Corvette Club
It’s not surprising that Mid-Alabama Corvette Club (MACC) made the trek over from Hoover, Ala. For years, MACC has been a sister club to Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta.
CCA makes it a point to travel to MACC’s annual event and vice versa. This on-the-go club is no stranger to hitting the road for adventure and camaraderie.
If you’ve never attended their incredible annual event, you owe it to yourself to circle the date in red on your calendar.
Black Panther Corvette Club
Several Corvette clubs were represented, but none more so than Atlanta’s Black Panther Corvette Club. Clad in pink shirts and black leather vests, this fun-loving club had about 20 members in attendance.
When it came time to distribute event trophies, they took home some impressive hardware. If you’re out and about in the Atlanta area, you’ll see this club at charity events such as breast cancer awareness and others.
From charity events to cruise-ins and more, this club stays active.
Zero Defects Shines
Among the vendors in attendance was Chris from Zero Defects. Talk about energy!
Chris was everywhere, from giving product demonstrations to using a mini leaf blower to blow the dust off your car. As you already know, Zero Defects is a full-service auto detail company based in Gainesville, Ga.
Judging by his enthusiasm and attention to detail, we can see why his business enjoys a host of repeat clients. So if you need detail work or a ceramic coating and live in the Gainesville area, you would do well to drop into his shop.
Lanier Corvettes Unlimited
Always up for a car show, Lanier Corvettes Unlimited (LCU) rolled into the Saturday event, ready to take home some trophies. As you know, Lanier Corvettes Unlimited is a well-established North Metro Atlanta club.
We can vouch for how much fun this group of Corvette enthusiasts has on a routine basis.
You can read about our latest outing with them in “Lanier Corvettes Unlimited Tours Michelin Tower And The Driving Club.”
Smiles All-Around
As the blue skies of that Saturday morning emerged, so did the smiles of those who attended. You would be hard-pressed to find someone who wasn’t smiling and enjoying the event.
When it came time to pass out trophies and awards, the smiles got even bigger.
Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta (CCA) gave out 65 door prizes and 41 awards/trophies. Of those, 20 were Sponsors Choice; ten were Top Ten, 5 Sister Club Picks, and a Kid’s Choice.
There were also trophies given out for Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, and of course, Best of Show. CCA also awarded a Wayne Allen commemorative award.
On the Camaro side of the ledger, 12 awards/trophies were bestowed. Speaking of Camaros, some jaw-dropping ones made the journey to this event.
All told, 96 cars were registered, with 53 of those being pre-registered for this charitable event. For this show, the Shadow Warrior Foundation and Parkwood Farms Therapy Center were the primary recipients of the funds raised.
Many of those in the crowd were already looking forward to next year’s show. By all accounts, the Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta event was something special.
