Securing the final gem in any triple crown sport is a rare and lofty achievement.
Horse racing involves winning the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes – all in the same year. The task is so difficult that only thirteen elite thoroughbred horses have accomplished the feat since 1875.
In the world of car shows, we’ve always held to the notion that for a Corvette club to be a triple crown winner, they have to host three All-Corvette car shows in a given year.
Regardless of the size of the club, it comes down to a dedicated core of event volunteers and numerous deep-pocket sponsors to bring a car show to life. And let’s not kid ourselves; putting on a car show takes tons of personal energy.
Often, the spirit is willing, but the flesh would rather sleep in on your day off. All of which makes Classic Glass’s triple crown for 2023 a rare and lofty achievement.
Three In The Win Column
For those keeping score at home, 2023 will be remembered as the year Classic Glass Corvette Club of Marietta put three in the win column. Each of their events showcased a different aspect of the Corvette lifestyle.
SuperVette Saturday (SVS) at Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth, Georgia, kicked off the year in a big way, as it has for decades. More than 225 Corvettes from the tri-state area filled the pristine dealership grounds to see and to be seen.
In many ways, SVS is Atlanta’s annual Corvette Homecoming event that enthusiasts talk about all year.
The second event was brand spanking new for 2023. Dubbed RevFest, this was a terrific track day/car show combination held at Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) in Dawsonville, Georgia.
Created by famed Formula One road course architect Hermann Tilke, AMP’s two-mile, 16-turn road course lets the Corvette driver test their skills on the challenging track.
The third gem on this year’s triple crown was the perennial fan favorite, VetteStock, held at Hudson Grille in Kennesaw, Georgia. This annual Fall event is both a fundraiser and a show of support for our beloved National Corvette Museum (NCM).
When you combine SuperVette Saturday, RevFest, and VetteStock, you have three winning events that span Atlanta’s Corvette season and lifestyle.
