In a world of uncertainty, one fact is indisputable.
Peach State Corvette Association (PSCA) members love driving their Corvettes to the monthly meeting.
Even though rain had blanketed Fayetteville, GA, just hours before, beautiful examples of America’s Sports Car filled the IHOP parking lot.
The lot took on the look and feel of an impromptu All-Vette car show and had the vibrant energy to match. This club comes out strong, and it’s an impressive sight to see.
Even with Shane Wright, President of PSCA, guiding us from Vette to Vette, we struggled to photograph everyone’s car before the meeting began.
Between meeting club members and snapping photos, we did squeeze in a few minutes to talk with Shane about this enthusiastic club.
An Active Club
Rod Worley – Editor – Shane, I talked to some of your club members, and they told me about all the club trips and activities.
Shane Wright – President of Peach State Corvette Association – We’re definitely an active club. Over the course of a year, we usually take four or five overnight trips around the southeastern part of the country.
Plus, we’ll do four or five individual day trips. And then we have a monthly dinner on the first Monday of the month, and our club meeting is on the third Tuesday of the month.
The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, the Savoy Automotive Museum, and Greg Wyatt’s Museum in Summerville are just a few recent trips.
The list goes on and on from there. Peach State Corvette Association has been around since 1979, and we’ve always enjoyed getting out and going to a variety of places.
Birthday Surprise!
Usually, monthly Corvette meetings are relatively routine affairs. Last month’s minutes get approved, new members are recognized, and upcoming trips are discussed.
Typically, the 50/50 drawing is the high watermark of excitement. Usually, but not always, and indeed not this month.
After the meeting drew to a close, the club members moseyed out to the parking lot to find a Corvette hidden under a form-fitting car cover. Speculation soared, and chatter immediately broke out about the mystery car.
Steve Hunnicutt quickly took center stage to address the crowd and shed light on the covered Corvette. He spoke about milestone birthdays being special moments that deserve more attention than a simple card and cake.
Steve conveyed how a Corvette can become a bridge of friendship between a seller and buyer, though they have never met. It was a heartwarming story that left more than a few eyes misty in the crowd.
The mood quickly turned to applause as the car cover was removed to reveal Steve’s 60th birthday gift for his wife, Cindy. She was shocked to see a pristine 2013 Supersonic Blue Grand Sport convertible.
This was the exact year, color combination, and model Cindy had admired for some time. Steve’s diligent work tracking down this car and keeping it a secret had paid off.
He had turned Cindy’s milestone birthday into a lifelong Corvette memory.
You owe it to yourself to read the full account of this birthday surprise in our article, “How To Turn A Birthday Into A Lifelong Corvette Memory.”
Always On The Move
It didn’t take long to discover that Peach State Corvette Association is a fun club that is always on the move. The members at the club meeting were eager to recall great trips and mention upcoming adventures.
Their monthly activities calendar is chock full of opportunities to mingle and get in some quality drive time. If you live on the south side of metro Atlanta, you would do well to stop by their club meeting.
It’s held at the IHOP restaurant, 705 North Jeff Davis Drive, in Fayetteville, GA, 30214, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Dinner before the meeting starts around 6:00 p.m.
However, we recommend getting there early to see the collection of Corvettes that come out for the meeting each month. This is one club that comes out strong!
