Yes, that is a vintage mountain bike on top of a custom fourth-gen Corvette.
In the automotive spectacle, that is, Caffeine & Octane, the infinite well of creativity is always on display. If you think you’ve seen everything, trust me, you haven’t.
Each month brings a slew of eye-catching innovations to the Town Center at Cobb parking lot in Kennesaw. Some of it’s outrageous, some of it’s thought-provoking, and all of it is entertaining.
This month was different in that we could have done the entire article using Arctic White Corvettes. They seemed to be out en masse this weekend, but we did slide in a few other colors for good measure.
Now, about that bicycle on the C4 Vette.
Stuntman Falls For 80’s Styling
You can’t put a colorful vintage mountain bike on a custom 1993 Corvette and not draw a crowd. Even for the jaded “we’ve seen it all before” crowd of regulars, they had to stop and stare in wide-eyed wonder.
Crowds are nothing new for the car’s owner, professional stuntman John Cooper. When John’s not getting beaten up and thrown off buildings, his passion is restoring 80’s era BMX and freestyle bikes.
Hence, the colorful addition to his Corvette’s roofline.
With over 20 years of stunt work to his credit, John has a litany of well-known movies on his resume. A few of the recent blockbusters include The Walking Dead, The Avengers, and Anchorman 2, as well as some movies still in production, such as Bad Boys 4 and Red One.
Keeping with the 80’s theme, John collects clothing, toys, and of course, cars from that time frame. Over the years, he’s owned around 340 vehicles, mostly old-school Japanese and American iron.
While he typically doesn’t keep vehicles long, that will change with this latest edition to his garage. Plans are to do an LS engine swap and feature it in upcoming music videos and tv shows.
Miami Vice Inspiration
From the imagination of Michael Keck comes the show-stopping C4 that graces our front cover. Come to find out, Michael’s creative passions run the gamut, but mention car design and his eyes light up, and a broad smile makes its way across his face.
A few years back, he was searching for his next project car. As luck would have it, he came across a 1993 Corvette coupe in North Carolina at a steal-of-a-deal price.
What sealed it for Michael was that it came with an original Greenwood aero kit. With the exotic cars from the 80’s hit show Miami Vice as inspiration, Michael set off to realize his vision.
First, he wanted to give this custom something that would instantly set it apart from others.
That came in the guise of an air ride suspension system from Sweden. Needless to say, some creative fabrication was needed for the lower control arms to make it work.
Michael retained the original engine, but to set the visual stage, he went bold with Rotiform AeroDiscs.
Rotiform AeroDiscs is an original thread-on wheel fan for 18×8.5″ and 19×8.5″ LAS-R and RSE and 19×8.5″ BUC-M Cast Monoblock wheels only. The creative part is you can change the plain discs out in moments with other painted discs without needing tools.
We’ve seen this fourth-gen with AeroDiscs painted to look like donuts. So as you walk the Vette, you see the many subtle touches Michael used to bring out that relaxed 80’s Miami Vice vibe.
The only thing we’re missing here is Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) in a white linen jacket and the sultry opening notes of “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins.
Promoting SuperVette Saturday
Once more, Marietta’s Classic Glass Corvette Club (CGCC) was set up for business at C&O. The CGCC banners were proudly flying, and the hospitality tent was in full use.
The hot topic du jour under the canopy was the upcoming May 6th, 2023, SuperVette Saturday (SVS) show. Bob Catapano, SVS Manager, was all smiles as he passed out flyers to the never-ending crowd of people meandering by.
With about 20 Corvettes parked in the CGCC section, plenty of Classic Glass members were on hand to spread the word about the upcoming show as well. If you want to save money by pre-registering for the event, here is the link.

C&O Transcends
As long-time Caffeine & Octane veterans will tell you, the show has evolved from the early days of cruising into a Panera Bread parking lot in Marietta. Yes, granted, the size of the crowds has obviously grown.
Yes, there are now nationally syndicated film crews scurrying about. But for many, what has changed is what it means to attend C&O.
The C&O ethos has transcended from being another large car show to being an experience. Much like the Tail of the Dragon has gone from being an obscure 11-mile stretch of mountain highway with 318 curves to becoming an international rite of passage.
A bucket-list experience, if you will.
Caffeine and Octane is reaching that lofty status in the thoughts of many. And now, in April, Caffeine & Octane is attracting Hollywood stuntmen and a cool Miami Vice vibe.
Who could ask for more?
