For many of us, SuperVette Saturday kicks off the official start of the Corvette summer in Atlanta.
This year, the 41st annual event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 4th. Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth has magnanimously offered their dealership to host the event again as they have for decades.
The hard-working members of the Classic Glass Corvette Club of Marietta will once more bring their considerable expertise to bear for this all-Corvette car show. This eagerly anticipated event draws well north of 200 Corvette enthusiasts from the tri-state area annually.
As luck would have it, we were able to pry Bob Catapano, the SuperVette Saturday Event Manager, away from his duties for a few minutes to talk about the upcoming event.
1963 Corvette Grand Sport
Rod Worley – Editor – Bob, Supervette Saturday is always a must-attend event for Corvette enthusiasts in the tri-state area. What’s new for this year’s event?
Bob Catapano – SuperVette Saturday Event Manager – First, let me say how much we appreciate everyone’s support for last year’s 40th annual event at Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth. The great turnout and all those beautiful Corvettes made it a fun show.
For 2024, we will celebrate the Corvette Grand Sport and explore its racing heritage and evolution. Enthusiasts seek out these special Corvettes because of their proven touring and track prowess.
The centerpiece of our Grand Sport celebration will be the Downforce Motorsports 1963 Grand Sport replica. Founded in 2019 by Navy veteran Dan Long, Downforce Motorsports is the largest independent dealership of Superformance vehicles in the United States.
The Superformance 1963 Corvette Grand Sport featured at this year’s SuperVette Saturday is the only car manufactured outside of GM that can be labeled a Corvette. Fully licensed by GM and eligible for the Corvette Grand Sport registry, the Superformance Grand Sport is identical to the original in nearly every detail.
So, as you can imagine, we’re excited to have Dan Long and his stunning 1963 Grand Sport at our show this year.
Supportive Sponsors
Rod Worley – Editor – Day’s Chevrolet has been an incredible host of the SuperVette Saturday event for decades. How important is their involvement, and have other sponsors already signed up?
Bob Catapano – SuperVette Saturday Event Manager – Honestly, we couldn’t have this event without the great people at Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth.
How many car dealerships do know of that would empty their new and used car lots on a busy Saturday to host a car show? They’re a dealership made up of remarkable people who are genuinely committed to serving the community and promoting the Corvette lifestyle.
Our club and the Corvette owners around Atlanta appreciate the time, effort, and support this dealership has given to those of us who love America’s Sports Car.
In addition to Day’s Chevrolet, we have other strong sponsors such as:
- National Corvette Museum,
- NCM Insurance,
- USA Reflections Auto Spa,
- Vengeance Racing,
- Tire Discounters.
We’re fortunate to have such a great group of sponsors who contribute their expertise and support to the event. They’ll be available on-site that day to answer your questions.
By the time Saturday, May 4th rolls around, we’ll probably add another half-dozen or more sponsors.
The Place To Be
It’s not much of a discussion among local Corvette enthusiasts. SuperVette Saturday is the place to be on the first Saturday in May this year.
This Chevrolet dealership will be ground zero for fun for those whose fancy leans towards fiberglass sports cars made in Flint, Michigan, St. Louis, or Bowling Green.
For 40 years, this event has delivered a great experience filled with camaraderie and Corvettes. So go ahead and circle Saturday, May 4th, on your calendar, and we’ll see you at Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth.
