Some club events seem to check off all the boxes.
- A 10 am start time.
- Spirited driving through twisty North Georgia mountains roads.
- Tour of historic RM Rose Distillery with free tasting samples.
- Scrumptious picnic lunch at the very top of picturesque Black Rock Mountain.
- Good group of fun Corvette enthusiasts and great weather throughout.
Honestly, not sure it gets better than this from a day-long Corvette excursion. Hats off to Bobby & Debbie from Amazing Corvettes Club for planning fun at every turn.
Especially the heart-pumping turns in the North Georgia mountain that put the grip of your Michelin Pilot 4 S tires to the test. Days later, we’re still smiling.
1st Registered Ga Distillery
Rod Worley – Editor – Thank you, Melissa, for your much-appreciated Southern hospitality today. Can you share some of the rich history of RM Rose Distillery with us?
Melissa – Operations Manager – RM Rose Distillery – I’d be happy too, Rod. Our distillery is close to the well-known Dillard House, so we’re easy to find.
The company, started by Dr. Rufus Madison Rose, dates back to 1867. Dr. Rose was a pharmacist recognized in the area for his quality products.
The distillery he built was Georgia’s first registered distillery. Dr. Rose was way ahead of his time regarding innovative marketing.
He put his name on anything and everything he could, which caused the business to expand quickly. They had a central location in Atlanta and businesses in Jacksonville, Florida; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Roanoke, Virginia; Newport, Kentucky and Manhattan, New York.
Everything was going great until Prohibition in 1917. They tried to move to different locations but eventually had to shut the doors.
After Prohibition, no one wanted to restart the brand, and it remained dormant for 99 years. Eventually, a group of investors who love history and whiskey brought the brand back.
In August 2016, we opened the doors to the public. Today, we do everything by hand in the next room, including distilling, bottling, and labeling.
We’re open 365 days a year for free tastings, tours, and purchases. Yes, even on Christmas Day, you can have a cocktail with us.
Be sure to check our website because our hours do change.
Fire On The Mountain
A great distilled spirit deserves a catchy name to help promote it. The name on the label has to invoke a memorable image while still sounding professional, which is a challenge in and of itself.
Fortunately, “Fire on the Mountain” Cinnamon Whiskey pulls it off.
This smooth-sipping whiskey just received another prestigious 100 evaluation from the 2023 MLSA competition. On top of that, Fire on the Mountain is a Triple Diamond Medal winner, which means it’s a top-tier 3-year winner.
Several top whiskey judges have described this whiskey as “Light gold in color with aromas of cardamom, cinnamon, and brown butter. Satiny, crisp, and moderately sweet on the palate with tingling notes of black tea and honey on the finish.”
Fun, Food & Friendship
Corvette clubs have a well-deserved reputation for finding the best places to eat after an event. Many would agree that having a picnic atop Black Rock Mountain has to rank high on the list for most serene and picturesque.
A soft, calming breeze moving through the hardwoods made a fitting way to unwind from the day’s event. Oh, and did we mention food?
We would be remiss if we didn’t, especially since the table was covered with homemade fudge-covered brownies, cookies, salads, and more. This club knows how to pull together the best family recipes for a get-together.
Fortunately, the Amazing Corvettes Club of Atlanta has more events planned for this Summer in case you missed this one.
Be sure to check out their website or Facebook page for upcoming events.
