A police presence at a large car show is a common sight these days.
What isn’t common is when the police department hosts the car show. That was the case at the 3rd Annual “Cops n’ Cars” show held on the multi-terraced grounds of Roswell City Hall.
You don’t know what you’re missing if you’ve never been to a car show at this location. The three levels of tree-lined parking give you welcomed shade from the rays of Georgia’s relentless summer sun.
At the same time, its layout conveys a cozy, back-to-nature feeling that seems just right. And it goes without saying this was a very safe, family-friendly event from start to finish.
In fact, this show was a young child’s dream come true. Officers let the young ones turn on the police cruiser’s flashing blue lights and pose for pictures on their motorcycles.
And what young child wouldn’t enjoy that?
It was one of many highlights of the day for kids and parents alike. Plus, it helped to strengthen further the ties between the police force and the community they serve.
Friends & Sponsors
The enthusiastic volunteers from the Friends of Roswell Police were set up and eager to lend a hand to those lost souls passing by the tent. Their quick smile and knowledge of the event’s layout proved invaluable.
Area businesses were an active part of this community-strengthening event. The presenting sponsor was Carl Black Buick – GMC dealership, 11225 Alpharetta Highway, in Roswell. Their generosity was clearly evident.
Gold-level sponsors were North Fulton Pressure Washing, The Home Depot, Junction 311 Endurance Sports, and American Towing.
The silver event sponsors were Roswell Buff City Soap, Jackson Acura, and Nalley Toyota of Roswell. Apologies if we missed anyone.
Pickup Truck Haircut
In a show featuring Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bloomington Gold Corvettes, the most photographed vehicle was an old pickup truck.
In a publicity-grabbing move that would make P.T. Barnum proud, Neryk from Jack & Sons Barber Shop was cutting hair in the bed of an old truck.
Perched above the onlookers with a classic barber chair bolted to the truck bed, he was applying his craft for all the world to see.
Crowds gathered, and men signed up for a classic haircut and straight razor shave. All in all, it was great street theater that added live entertainment to the day’s festivities.
Besides this vintage mobile barber shop, Jack & Sons has locations in Roswell, Alpharetta, and Cummings.
Bringing The Community Together
The annual “Cops N’ Cars” event draws thousands of people to picturesque Roswell City Hall annually.
The funds raised through sponsorships, vehicle registrations, and on-site donations are reallocated back into supporting the community via the Friends of Roswell Police Foundation.
This charitable show is part of an ongoing series of events that fosters positive interaction between the community and the police officers that serve them.
To that end, this car show is a success each and every year.
