Many will tell you, “There’s a big difference between saying and doing.” However, when it comes to Classic Glass Corvette Club (CGCC), put this club squarely in the “doing” category.
Few clubs in America do more for the National Corvette Museum (NCM) than CGCC.
This VetteStock All-Corvette car show is only one of many ways this energetic Marietta-based group supports the Bowling Green, KY museum. And support the NCM they do!
This annual fun gathering of Corvette enthusiasts increases awareness and raises contributions directly for the NCM. In addition to VetteStock, club members routinely travel to the Museum to volunteer their services.
In addition to championing the Museum, they know how to put on a fun afternoon car show.
Mark & Patti Save The Day
Due to scheduling conflicts on our end, we asked Mark & Patti to be our on-site reporters. You’ll remember this dynamic duo from our A $1 Corvette Becomes Their Perfect Project article.
Besides being CGCC members, they certainly know their way around an All-Corvette car show. Special thanks to both of them for covering the event for us and providing these photos.
What follows is an edited transcript of our conversation.
Rod Worley – Editor – The early morning weather for VetteStock was a bit sketchy. How did that work out?
Mark & Patti – Well, yes, the weather was inclement there for a little while. Early on, people were standing around their cars with umbrellas debating whether to take the tarp off or not. It wasn’t long before the dark clouds moved on, though.
Rod Worley – Editor – Vendor partners, add to the overall event in several ways. Were there vendors at VetteStock?
Mark & Patti – We were fortunate to have several vendors there. For example, USA Reflections Auto Spa brought a display tent with products and a shiny C7 Vette.
Smyrna Tire Service from 2690 South Cobb Drive was there to answer questions about tires and the services they provide. In addition, Brenda Smith Jewelry had a display tent there showcasing her beautiful jewelry designs.
Of course, the primary vendor for this event was the National Corvette Museum itself. They brought their mobile Corvette Store filled with shirts, hats, and other great merchandise.
Chance To Share Information
Rod Worley – Editor – How was the turnout, and how were trophies given out?
Mark & Patti – The turnout was great with 102 entries this year! As far as awards go, attendees voted on their favorite entries of Corvettes this year. Then, they picked the top 20 who would win a trophy.
And additionally, Miller’s Ale House selected its favorite entry this year, which went to Lynn and Greg Mosely’s black 1959 convertible. It was great to see so many Corvette enthusiasts come out to show their support for the National Corvette Museum.
We were shocked when they selected our restored $1 barn find 1979 Corvette for a trophy!
Rod Worley – Editor – Besides admiring the beauty of the Corvettes, car shows can also be educational. Did you find that to be the case here?
Mark & Patti – You’re right, Rod. An event like VetteStock is an excellent opportunity for Corvette owners to share information with other owners.
There was a strong contingent of C3s and C4s at this event. So these people were able to exchange notes and vendor contact information.
I know we got several questions about what we did to our 1979 and the vendors we used. There were other people there sharing information and expanding their knowledge base as well.
Mobile NCM Corvette Store
Taking center stage at VetteStock was the National Corvette Museum (NCM) mobile store. The latest in NCM gear was available in numerous sizes, colors, and patterns.
Since September 1994, the NCM has been the epicenter of the Corvette lifestyle. Located only a quarter-mile from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, this award-winning Museum is the recognized repository of Corvette’s evolution and history.
For those ordering a shiny new Corvette, we would recommend checking off the R8C option. This premium service designates “Museum Delivery.”
The museum delivery option is a VIP service that offers a personal tour of the extensive Museum and a host of other benefits. Many enthusiasts will tell you it is an experience not soon forgotten.
USA Reflections Shines
Corporate partners add a vibrant layer to any car enthusiast gathering. Not only do they give attendees the opportunity to see the latest products and services, but they add to the event’s bottom line.
USA Reflections Auto Spa is one sponsor that we’ve been seeing around the Atlanta car show scene more and more. Their services include executive detail, paint correction, and ceramic coating.
They also offer ceramic glass coating and paint protection film (PPF) installation. To round out their array of services, custom vinyl installation, interior detail, and minor accessory installation.
If you need their services and live in the Alpharetta area, think about supporting their business.
Miller’s Ale House
Once again, Miller’s Ale House graciously made their facilities open to Corvette enthusiasts. An event like VetteStock can put a strain on a restaurant, but they were up to the challenge.
Once you step inside you’ll find a casual sports pub with basics from bar snacks to steaks & a large selection of tap beers.
If you’re in the area and looking for a bite to eat, consider Miller’s Ale House at 10750 Davis Drive, in Alpharetta.
Another Successful VetteStock
The annual VetteStock event continues to grow and attract more Corvette enthusiasts every year. It’s exciting to see the CGCC leading the way in support of the National Corvette Museum.
This must-attend event has quickly become a staple on the yearly event calendar for many Corvette enthusiasts.
It was apparent to see, Classic Glass Corvette Club of Marietta scored big with VetteStock 2021.
