Don’t look now, but the Crabapple Market car show is quietly becoming one of the top reoccurring car shows in Atlanta.
We’ve been dropping in on this Milton, Ga event from its beginning and have seen the evolution of this slice of car show heaven first-hand.
When you’re listing off the pluses, you’ve got to start with the location itself. In the center of all the action is a family-friendly green space oasis that is pet-friendly as well.
This undisturbed area, nestled off the main thoroughfare, provides front-lawn benefits for laying out the blankets and enjoying the ongoing festivities.
The buildings provide welcome shade from the unrelenting Georgia sun, as do the trees planted along the winding walkway. Parking is not your average “sea of pavement” but instead designed to encourage conversation and exploration.
The People Make It Special
Still, as is true of every car show, it comes down to the people and the quality of the cars that attend. This show has that covered as well.
From former G.M. executives to Duntov award-winning Corvettes, this show brings out some of the best every month.
It’s not just a plethora of fiberglass wonders that call the Crabapple Market car show home; museum-quality vintage cars and a healthy dose of exotics do as well.
Laying Eyes On Corvette Bronze
In a show like this, it’s hard to turn heads. That is, of course, unless you’re Shane & Jackie, and you’re rolling in with a rare 1970 “Corvette Bronze” colored Vette.
According to the 1970 Corvette Registry, only 6% of the 17,316 Corvettes produced had this color. Either way, the photo doesn’t do this summertime fun color justice.
You can also see the distinctive egg-crate vents on the side that replaced the 4 side gills of the 1969 model and the slighly flared fenders.
The Pub Is The Crown Jewel
The crown jewel of the Crabapple Market car show experience is the chance to have lunch at the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub. In talking with Ron Wallace, the pub’s owner, authenticity extends beyond the richly appointed decor, to every facet of the dining experience.
Wallace went on to say, “We wanted to create an environment that was warm, friendly, and authentic to an Irish pub. When you walk in the door of either of our locations, the atmosphere is such that it feels like it’s been there for many, many years.”
“We accomplished this by importing from Europe many of the elements used in the design of the pub,” Ron added.
After you visit the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub you might want to order a copy of Ron Wallace’s latest book titled, Irish Pubs In America: History, Lore and Recipes This one-of-a-kind coffee table book features more than 50 Irish pubs across the United States.
There are 336 pages of beautiful photography, rich history, and a special recipe section as well.
Constantly Evolving
The Crabapple Market car show is constantly evolving and fine-tuning its value proposition. The subtle changes underscore the commitment to make this one of the finest reoccurring car shows in Atlanta.
This show has all the attributes of a great car show already covered. It features a wide diversity of fantastic cars, great food, zen-like surroundings, refreshing shade, 50/50 raffles, trophies, and thirst-quenching Guinness.
Judging by the many smiles and enthusiastic turnout, there is something about the Crabapple Market event that profoundly resonates with people who want more from a car show.
