“I love it when a plan comes together.” is more than just a catchphrase from the 80s TV show A-Team.

It also perfectly describes the resounding success of the first car show at the Crabapple Market in Milton, GA. This wasn’t a matter of luck, but a direct result of meticulous planning and a deep commitment to the community.

Putting on a car show is no task for the faint of heart, but any trepidation about the event’s success instantly vanished upon meeting Ron Wallace, the driving force behind the event.

His laser focus and attention to detail ensured this first-time show was nothing short of top-flight.

Meet Ron Wallace: The Driving Force Behind the Show

The success of the Crabapple Market car show is a direct result of the “laser focus” of Ron Wallace, a long-time Corvette owner and the force behind the event. His credentials and experience are a testament to his executive-level planning.

  • Award-Winning Restaurateur: As the founder of the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub, his business won the prestigious 2015 Irish Pub of the Year award from the Irish Pubs Foundation in Dublin, Ireland—the first US pub to ever receive the honor.
  • Published Author: He is a published author of three books, including the leadership manual Leadership Lessons from a UPS Driver: Delivering the Culture of We, Not Me.
  • Civic and Community Leader: Ron was appointed by then-Governor Sonny Perdue to lead the commission that established the City of Milton, Georgia, and has been deeply involved in community affairs.

His meticulous, executive-level mindset is clearly at work in the execution of this car show, ensuring every detail is perfectly executed.

A Showcase of Corvette History and Passion

The car show attracted a fantastic mix of Corvette history and modern-day passion, with owners eager to share their stories and showcase their meticulously maintained cars.

Neil’s 1969 Silver Corvette Coupe: This early C3 Corvette is an iconic example of the third generation’s “coke bottle” styling. With a longer, wider body than its predecessors, the C3 represented a shift toward a more muscular, aggressive design.

Richard & Tori’s NCRS 1967 Marina Blue Corvette: This stunning C2 Corvette is a prime example of the second generation’s peak. As an NCRS Top Flight award winner, its Marina Blue finish and original components have been judged to be as close to factory-original as possible.

Freddy’s NCRS 1962 Sateen Silver Corvette: Representing the final year of the first-generation C1, Freddy’s Sateen Silver roadster is a beautiful piece of history. This car’s NCRS pedigree further highlights its historical accuracy.

Al’s 2015 Black Coupe: This C7 Corvette from the “Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta” club highlights the strong sense of community that the car show celebrates.

Breakfast From An Award-Winning Restaurant

For many car shows, having a food vendor attend or even access to food within 100 yards isn’t on their radar. For the Crabapple Market show, it had to be near the top of the list.

When the winner of the 2015 “Best Irish Pub In World” supplies the food, you know it’s going to be great. This may be the first time we’ve said this, but we’re going back next month to grab a couple of those chicken biscuit sandwiches and then stay for the car show.

Seriously, that’s how good the food was for this show.

It wasn’t just great food available. It was all the other small touches that made this show a standout.

Let’s start with the numerous parking marshals stationed around the event. We have to mention the live professional DJ that played a variety of music that kept everyone entertained.

Their master of ceremonies knew how to engage the crowd and keep the awards portion of the day moving along. Safety-wise, they were on top of the COVID prevention issues, as they were with every other nuance of this event.
