What makes a sun-drenched Spring car show even better?
In our book, it’s getting a chance to park your favorite ride in the middle of the main street in Loganville.
Not sure if it’s the hot rod rebel in us or not, but parking in the street gives the car show a cooler vibe. Traditional car shows are fun, and we cover a ton of them.
But there is something about police cruisers barricading the street with their blue lights flashing while you position your Corvette in the middle of the road that strikes a chord.
Apparently, we’re not alone here, judging by the turnout for this 18th Annual Benefit Car Show. The Master’s Car Club puts on this annual community fundraising event in conjunction with the city of Loganville.
Besides bringing hundreds of people together in Loganville’s new downtown area, the event proceeds benefit the Almsprings Food Basket.
This charity is a nonprofit food pantry for those in need, graciously housed at Sparky’s Auto Museum at 1209 Nathan Blvd, Loganville, GA.
Reinvigorating The Downtown
It’s easy to get excited about the future of Loganville after spending a few minutes with the Honorable Skip Baliles, the Mayor of Loganville. Mayor Baliles has an enthusiasm and love for this town that is easy to see.
So many small towns across Georgia struggle to find their footing in today’s rapidly changing world. This community is no exception.
Walking the streets of downtown, you’ll find historic brick buildings dating back to the 19th century and several small businesses.
You’ll also find a Town Green, constructed a few years ago, that served as the hub for this car show’s activities. This beautiful multi-use green space is a focal point of the downtown area and the site for events such as the “Groovin’ on the Green” concert series.
The Mayor pointed out that the continued growth of the Groovin’ on the Green concert series hits right at the heart of why the Town Green was built, which was to bring this community of 14,000 residents together.
Looking over the lineup for this summer’s concert series, we plan on being back with our lawn chairs to catch the entertainment.
At the very least, we’ll be sure to be here on October 8th, 2022, for the Back the Blue car show hosted by The Master’s Car Club.
Georgia Street Rod Association
It seems like wherever there’s a collection of street rods or a gathering of classic vehicles, you’ll find the Georgia Street Rod Association. GSRA defines a “Street Rod” as a vehicle you love, which is why you see their booth at a variety of car shows.
GSRA members have a wide range of vehicles, from stock to muscle cars, hot rods, and trucks. They even have motorcycles, custom cars, hybrids, and electric automobiles.
All makes, models, and years are welcome to join their association.
In addition to being one of the oldest automotive associations in the USA, they are a treasure trove of automotive knowledge.
Besides touting membership benefits, the GSRA team was also on hand to spread the news of their upcoming car show on Saturday, June 4th, 2022. The event will be held at Summit Racing Equipment Superstore in McDonough, Ga.
This year’s car show benefits Honor Flight which serves Georgia’s veterans, which is reason enough to attend for us.
Car Show Brings Out The Community
Even with the Spring temperatures soaring, the local automotive community came out in support. Fortunately, food trucks and refreshment booths kept everyone happy and hydrated.
The Master’s Car Club handled the judging and trophy presentation with ease. The fortunate winners took home a custom-designed trophy to celebrate their success.
We’re already looking forward to the upcoming “Back the Blue” car show on October 8th, 2022. Hopefully, they’ll block off the main street again.
We still have some of that hot rod rebel left in us.
