Caffeine & Octane always brings something new to the party. Sometimes it’s rare, classic cars that you’ve only read about in Robb Report magazine; other times, it’s a Chevy dump truck with a fiberglass boat shell attached.
Either way, C&O surprises you every month.
Have to admit, we’ve come to expect the unexpected on the first Sunday of every month, but even this one caught us off guard. The photos don’t convey the attention to detail and the craftsmanship of this hand-made custom creation.
Did we mention it’s painted like a shark? Speaking of sharks, , ,
Mako Shark In The Waters
In the sea of humanity, John Martin’s Mako Shark replica stood out among others as it always does. It’s easy to find John and his immaculate Mako at these car gatherings.
The large group of people surrounding his creation is a dead giveaway.
Longtime readers of Vettes of Atlanta Magazine will remember the deep dive we did a while back into John’s journey. How he transformed a forgotten field find in North Carolina into a show-stopping Mako Shark replica.
The article was titled, “John Martin Brings A Mako Field Find To Life.”
Never one to stand on his past accomplishments, John has been working hard to bring this one-of-a-kind Mako replica to an even higher standard, and it shows.
Time For The Story To Continue
Every Corvette has a story. The older the Corvette, the more stories it seems to gather around it.
In the case of this gorgeous 1961 Roman Red Corvette, it’s time for the storyline to continue. Come to find out from Gordon, its current owner, that this car spent some time in a museum before he bought it ten years ago from a gentleman in his 90s.
As you would suspect, the car needed mechanical attention to make it completely reliable and road-worthy once more. Now that it has painstakingly been brought back to life, Gordon is looking forward to his next project.
He has put together a website outlining the work performed and the asking price if you are interested. Here is the link1961 Chevrolet Corvette.
Mustang Weekend?
The focus for this Caffeine & Octane was supposed to be Mustangs and Miatas in the center area. Though by my estimates, there were almost as many Corvettes in attendance.
Not that we’re biased, you understand but just saying.
In our experience, if you say “Car Show” three times out loud, the Corvette faithful will start pulling in the parking lot as if on cue. Collectively, the fiberglass faithful are always up for a car show gathering.
Even with some light rain falling early on, May’s edition of Caffeine & Octane was another resounding success by all accounts, as it is every month. Why is that, you ask?
Well, when you think you’ve seen it all, Caffeine & Octane finds a way to surprise you.
