“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary” – Vidal Sassoon.

The city of Monroe, Georgia knows a thing or two about putting in the long hours and hard work to achieve success.

No doubt, it took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to organize the 16th annual “Memories in Monroe” car show on Saturday, March 13th.

Logistically, it is no small feat to close off the center of town, divert traffic, and deal with crowds of people while also judging over 500 cars.

Yes, this was their 16th annual event, but hats off to them for making it look easy.

Over 500 Make The Journey

The streets around the center of town were the temporary home to north of 500 show cars of all makes, models, and styles. Our beloved Corvettes were well represented with over 25 shiny examples vieing for top honors.

From classics to the modern era, if it was cool and sat on four wheels it was probably here.

Traditional car shows typically happen on large swaths of swelteringly hot parking lot pavement. This hometown event wrapped luringly up and down the various side streets around the courthouse. You never knew what you were going to see next as you rounded the corner.

Each side street piqued your interest and brought with it a new visual surprise. Tagging along was a whole lot of pet and family-friendly fun.

Open Road Designs

The word had clearly reached the local automotive vendor community about this event. Many had pop-up shops along the tree-lined streets to meet and greet car enthusiasts.

One vendor that stood out was Open Road Designs and their attention-grabbing car show signs. We were fortunate to spend a few minutes with Katie Falanga, the talented graphic designer, and owner of Open Road Designs.

We were immediately impressed with Katie’s passion for show cars and fellow enthusiasts alike. You can see that passion play out in the subtle differences that separate Open Road Designs from would-be competitors.

Katie doesn’t just create show boards to impress judges and car show-goers. She allows the owner’s dreams and passion to be displayed for the world to see.

The Magic Of Monroe

The real magic of the Monroe car show was the blending of the show cars with the charm and hospitality of downtown Monroe. Shops and restaurants were open and enticing passerbys to come in and explore.

This was one of those rare events that truly had something for everyone. From restaurants and food trucks, to vendors, music and hundreds of quality show cars to enjoy.

With the music playing in the background, this event had the laid-back feel of a family-friendly block party in your neighborhood.

In our eyes, the 16th annual Monroe Memories car show was a huge success and one that is going to be on our calendar for years to come.
