Tony Robbins, the famous motivational coach, once said, “People who succeed have momentum. The more they succeed, the more they want to succeed, and the more they find a way to succeed.”
Perhaps Tony Robbins was referring to Classic Glass Corvette Club of Marietta, Georgia.
Their 38th annual all-Corvette car show at Day’s Chevrolet in 2021 set an all-time record for Corvettes in attendance. But that begs the question, “Where do you go from there, and how do you keep the momentum going?”
As you might suspect, that’s a tricky question with no easy answer. Fortunately, this energetic Atlanta-based club has Bob Catapano and a talented team to tackle that question head-on.
And tackle it they did.
Record-Breaking In Several Ways
From start to finish, SuperVette Saturday was a very smooth, well-organized event that brought smiles to the faces of many. But, we wanted to delve a little deeper, so we contacted David Klingensmith, President of Classic Glass, for a few more details.
Granted, from our perspective, the parking lots were filled but did the number of Corvettes exceed last year’s record-breaking year? David replied that, indeed, we were right on point.
For 2022, they had 255 total Corvettes in attendance, which broke last year’s record.
David also went on to share these details as well:
- 600 to 700 people were in attendance.
- The auction raised over $5,000.
- Net funds raised totaled over $16,000 which exceeded last year.
Among the many aspects of the show that intrigued us was the technology used to judge cars. The judges used cell phones to convey real-time results back to the scoring table for each car.
The club used the new “Driven To Show” judging system which was created by systems developer, Nick Gins. This easy-to-use program replaces the laborious pen & paper method and produces tabulated results in milliseconds.
You can reach Nick for more details via email at [email protected]. When we asked David about the time savings of the “Driven To Show” system, he estimated it saved them roughly 2 1/2 hours overall.
David’s closing message was, “We want to give an enormous round of applause to Bob Catapano, SVS manager, and his team of volunteers.”
“Special thanks to our sponsors, Day’s Chevrolet, Smyrna Tire Service, USA Reflections Auto Spa, Vengeance Racing, and Detail Garage. Without all of those mentioned, what we do and the charities we provide for would never be possible. So once again, thank you all.”
USA Reflections Auto Spa
Even on a cloudy, overcast day, one Corvette was shining brightly, the black C7 from USA Reflections Auto Spa. Throughout the day this incredibly helpful team was answering questions and outlining their extensive list of professional services.
Some of the services USA Reflections Auto Spa provides include executive-level detail, paint correction, and ceramic coating. This knowledgeable team also provides ceramic glass coating, paint protection film (PPF), custom vinyl installation, interior detail, and minor accessory installation.
Best of all? They offer a one-stop location to have your car brought to a level of beauty beyond the day you bought it.
They service residents in Alpharetta, GA, and the surrounding areas. It doesn’t matter what car you drive or collect.
Horsepower Unleashed
One tent that was busy throughout the day was Vengeance Racing. A frequent sponsor of SuperVette Saturday, they were on hand to talk about getting more from your small-block Chevrolet engine.
Many in the LS engine world consider Vengeance Racing (VR) one of the leaders in late model vehicle performance parts, installations, and tuning. They provide high-performance enhancements for your Corvette with as much emphasis on drivability and reliability as on power and speed.
In talking to Daniel from VR, he assured us that no matter what your goals are, they can unleash the performance potential in your Corvette. So stop by their facilities in Cumming, Ga, or contact them online for more details.
Atlanta’s Corvette Reunion
SuperVette Saturday has always been a reunion for enthusiasts and local Corvette clubs. It’s a date you highlight on the calendar to meet up with old friends and admire row after row of America’s Sports Car.
Making a trophy-awarding car show appear to run effortlessly takes considerable event day coordination and intricate pre-show planning.
When you stop to consider what it takes for an event of this size, it makes what Bob Catapano and his talented team achieved even more impressive. So that begs the question, “What do Bob and his team have in the works for their milestone 40th annual event?”
We know those who succeed have momentum and the more they succeed, the more they find a way to succeed even further. That leaves us with a tantalizing question.
Will the 2023 edition of SuperVette Saturday set an all-time record. . . again?
