10/8/22 is the date to remember.
Why so, you might ask? Well, if you enjoy a well-run, always fun car show featuring Corvettes and Camaros, then this is where you need to be.
If last year was any indication, this date needs highlighting in bright red on your calendar. We covered the event last year with our article, “The Corvette Cruisers Of Atlanta Event Was Something Special.”
So that begs the question, what does this high-energy club have in store for 10/8/22? To find out, we headed to their monthly Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta (CCA) meeting held at Bahama Breeze restaurant in Duluth.
In the end, we got even more excited about the upcoming event, met some great Corvette people, had a boat load of fun, and enjoyed tantalizing food. So as you can tell, being the editor of Vettes of Atlanta Magazine is a tough job.
But, honestly, somebody’s got to do it.
Giving To Those In Need
Community stewardship has been a hallmark of Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta since its inception. Providing support to those less fortunate is a powerful current that flows through the 10/8/22 event.
This club donates thousands of dollars annually to local charities such as Shadow Warriors Foundation and Parkwood Farms Therapy Center. Here is a brief synopsis of two of the several charities this club supports.
Shadow Warriors Foundation is a not-for-profit volunteer organization founded, developed, and operated by a Retired Army Officer and a dedicated group of concerned and experienced Patriots. They support our disenfranchised veterans, including access to healthcare (medical and mental), housing, food, basic daily living supplies, hygiene items and clothing, education, and employment.
Parkwood Farms Therapy Center’s mission is to serve the special needs community ages five years and up. They provide equine-related activities that facilitate physical and cognitive functions in direct relation to riding skills.
Whether it’s food and refreshment sales, raffles, 50/50 tickets, and more, this club’s goal is to raise funds for those less fortunate.
Bahama Breeze Delights
We seriously doubt we’ll be trading in our Michelin Pilot 4S tires for Michelin restaurant stars anytime soon. Though surprisingly, Michelin began publishing its “Red Guide” in 1900, when both cars and food tourism were novel luxuries.
But with that said, the Bahama Breeze cuisine we sampled pleasantly surprised us concerning flavor, authenticity, and portion size.
Since 1999 this restaurant has specialized in Caribbean-inspired food, handcrafted tropical drinks, and a vibrant island atmosphere. In today’s world, for a restaurant to keep its doors open for over 20 years speaks volumes.
Perhaps it’s due to its parent company, Darden, being named to the FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” list annually. That would account for a wait staff that was an absolute joy to work with throughout our dining experience.
Another plus for Corvette-related gatherings is the restaurant’s location. It’s a sizeable 3.74-acre property located at the corner of a signalized intersection along Pleasant Hill Road.
Easy access to I-85 is a plus. Abundant parking and a natural area inside for club meetings are another.
Combine it all, and we highly recommend you try the Bahama Breeze restaurant in Duluth. The minute you step inside, you pick up a vibrant island atmosphere that lifts your spirits and lets you feel a million miles from home.
On second thought, maybe we should start writing Michelin restaurant reviews.
Remember 10/8/22
Have to say, we did get excited hearing about all that CCA has in store for everyone at this year’s car show. Their 10-plus years of hosting many successful car events in Atlanta serve them well in their methodical preparation.
One aspect of last year’s CCA show we thoroughly enjoyed was watching the Driven To Show judging app from Nick Gins in action. This powerful, professional judging app is easy to use and tabulates results in real time.
To top it off, Driven To Show is also an engaging social app.
In addition to the camaraderie and great cars, the famous golden “Dixie Twister” Camaro will also be on display.
When you look at all this upcoming car show has to offer, we’d have to agree with Corvette Cruisers Of Atlanta.
10/8/22 is a date you should remember.
