The hard-working team who put on the classic car show in downtown Monroe has got this event dialed in.
The minute you get there, it’s clear why they’ve been voted Best Community Event for nine straight years.
We were fortunate to cover last year’s event and pen the article, “Memories In Monroe” Car Show Draws In The People.
Fast forward to 2022, and it’s more of the same. Clean classics, souped-up hot rods, and jaw-dropping autos of every flavor continue to call this venue home.
Awards were given to the top 75 cars and Best in Show, and I’m sure that was a tough call with so many to choose from on hand.
As always, the Corvette faithful were in attendance with America’s only true sports car.
Southern Elite Contracting
When you think of Southern Elite Contracting, home improvement and construction naturally come to mind. And, of course, it should.
That’s what they do, except during the Downtown Monroe car show.
On this sunny day in March, the whole crew was on hand to give out free hot dogs, chips, and bottled water. Talk about giving back to the community!
Come to find out, their corporate office is 202 South Madison Ave, in downtown Monroe, Georgia.
If there were an award for the friendliest bunch of people, the crew of Southern Elite Contracting would win first place for sure. And while we’re at it, thanks for putting smiles on hundreds of faces during the show.
The hot dog hit the spot!
Streetside Classics
Owing a classic vehicle is fun, selling one? Not so much. Streetside Classics was on hand at the Downtown Monroe car show to make the process easier.
Jimmy Ethridge, Inventory Manager for the Atlanta location of Streetside, was available to answer any questions you might have. Given the plethora of classic cars at the show, his booth was busy all day.
It’s not surprising, considering Streetside Classics is one of the top consignment dealers in the country. They’ve got Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville, Phoenix, and Tampa locations.
Open Roads Customs
With all the custom cars and hot rods lining the streets, it was no surprise we ran into Chris Falanga. Chris is the owner of Open Roads Customs and a constant trophy winner on the car show circuit.
His custom 2011 Torch Red Grand Sport coupe has taken home impressive trophies and awards at shows across Atlanta. Recently Chris opened his shop to share his professional auto detailing skills.
Beyond ceramic coating and detailing, Chris’s business model includes a full array of custom options to transform your vehicle.
Plan On Attending In 2023
Write yourself a note, circle it on your calendar, do whatever it takes. If your pulse quickens for downtown car shows, this should be on your shortlist for 2023.
The main street shops are open for exploring and often provide a diversion for the reluctant car show spouse. In addition, the downtown restaurants welcome all that pass by.
Several food trucks are on-site, and local dessert booths of every variety dot the area. There is ample parking space, abundant shade, and dozens of seldom-seen collectible cars.
Many of these local cars of note seldom see the light of day. Yet, this is the one event that continually brings out the area car community en masse.
There is no doubt next year’s event will once again see large crowds and row upon row of show cars filling downtown Monroe.
