“Show Your Ride For The Ribbons” Brings A Hot Show To The Hudgens Center For Art

“Show Your Ride For The Ribbons” is well known in Atlanta for hosting hot car shows.

This time, they served up hot cars and hot temperatures for their event at the Hudgens Center For Art & Learning in Duluth. Despite oppressive heat shimmering off the black asphalt, the turnout was strong for this inaugural event.

Bobbie Menneg, Board President for Beyond The Ribbon charity, has emerged as a bankable organizer in Atlanta’s car show community. The strong vendor support and participant turnout for this event certainly demonstrate that.

Fresh off her wildly successful downtown Lawrenceville block party event, Bobbie, her team of volunteers, and vendors were eager to keep the momentum going. And keep it going, they did.

Among the notable vendors supporting the event were Nick Gins and his game-changing Driven To Show car show management platform. This is, hands down, the system everyone should be using for their car show.

Ringing The Bell

It’s almost certain that if you’ve been to a Beyond the Ribbon car show, you’ve met Bobbie Menneg. The high-energy President of Beyond the Ribbon is in constant motion.

Whether checking in with vendors or greeting car show participants, Bobbie is always on the go. That same energy and inner drive propel her mission to advocate for support and resources for those in need beyond cancer diagnosis.

Beyond the Ribbon aims to educate, inspire hope, cultivate awareness, and empower individuals throughout their cancer journey. The countless lives they’ve touched testify to the real-world support they give when and where people need it the most.

Talking with Bobbie, you become profoundly aware of the extent to which cancer can change your life beyond fighting the disease.

As Bobbie told us, ” The ringing of a bell signifies the final day of cancer treatment. What most do not understand is that cancer goes beyond treatment and the last treatment.”

“Some days beyond diagnosis are just as taxing as those during treatment. This is the basis for my charity work and the mission of Beyond the Ribbon, Inc.”

“There is not a day that goes by that cancer doesn’t touch my life through the lives of others, and each day, I want to try harder for them. Each day, I want to make their journey more comfortable.”

“They need to be able to focus on that bell ringing on the day of their victory…and ringing a bell for every victorious milestone beyond that day.”

Creative art and design weren’t limited to the show cars on display that day. As we were to learn, the event’s host, the Jaqueline Casey Hudgens Center For Art & Learning, has enchanting works of art around every corner.

Laura Ballance, the center’s Executive Director, graciously gave us a walk-through of this intriguing facility. The Hudgens Center showcases artwork in its permanent collection and collaborative exhibits with local and renowned national artists.

In an expanded mission, the Hudgens Center strives to educate and inspire artists of all ages and experience levels. Accomplished artists and teachers conduct classes in various mediums, such as pottery, painting, drawing, and handcrafted goods.

Beyond the physical structure, this museum plays a vital role in building and preserving this community’s cultural identity. Walking and talking with Laura opened our eyes to the opportunity this facility offers to think, learn, grow, wonder, and feel.

You should take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the transformative experience of the Hudgens Center For Art & Learning.

Theme Cars R Us 2k

Beyond custom paint and wheels, some custom car builders have taken the next evolutionary step to theme-based cars. Often, you’ll see them at area car shows with crowds of onlookers taking in every detail of their build.

One of Atlanta’s largest collections of theme cars is headed by Michael (Batman) and his wife. Michael pointed out that themecarsrus_2k is not a club but a movement stretching across the country.

Creating a theme car is an individual pursuit, but enthusiasts come together under the “Theme Team” banner to participate in car shows and cruise-ins. You’ll find Corvettes, Camaros, Chrysler 300, Challengers, and Toyotas receiving the theme treatment.

The level of detail and creativity shows their commitment to bringing their theme vision to life.

An Event With A Purpose

A Beyond The Ribbon car show is an event with a purpose. The minute you roll up to this gathering, you know your involvement is helping those in the community battle the devastating effects of cancer.

Yes, many car shows have a genuine charity aspect, but you often have to search for it at the show. Here, everything revolves around the reason for the gathering.

You hear the message as Bobbie Menneg and her team welcome you to the show and as they meander about talking to attendees. Ultimately, you know why you’re there, giving you a strong sense of community involvement.

We could feel this car community coming together that afternoon to show their support.

We’re glad we could be a part of the inaugural “Show Your Ride For The Ribbons” event at the Hudgens Center For Art & Learning.
