Often, local clubs struggle with ideas to create additional revenue streams for their Corvette car show. As you’ll see, selling tickets and getting a few sponsors aren’t the only ways to generate income.
To make it easy, we’ve put together our favorite five ways to increase revenue for your next fiberglass car show. On a related topic, if you’re looking for proven ways to take your car show marketing to the next level, then check out our article, Top 40 Corvette Car Show Marketing Ideas.
First up.
Preferred Parking
If you’ve shown your fiberglass beauty at a few car shows, you’ve quickly discovered the importance of the right parking spot. Come to the show too late, and you’ll find yourself parked beside a full dumpster on a hot summer day or shoehorned into some moped parking spot in the back.
It doesn’t have to be that way with just a little extra cash.
What if you could pay a premium above the show’s admission price in advance to guarantee a primo spot? Many people are willing to pay a premium (as much as 50% or more than the admission price) for a guaranteed spot to park when they get there.
Being able to reserve a premium parking space in advance from the comfort of your home or office is a welcome advancement that can generate additional revenue for any car show event, all the while providing greater convenience.
Preferred event parking is a valuable additional revenue stream for sold-out concerts, packed sporting events, and your next Corvette car show.
Hospitality Tent
Most hospitality tents today mirror the way we are conducting our lives now. They are not over the top or lavish but well-executed and experience-centric. They can be the perfect addition to your car show event.
For most car shows, shade from the sun comes at a premium. Many times there isn’t enough room among the parked cars for your personal tent. A vendor-sponsored hospitality tent can be a refreshing oasis of comfort in the midst of a scorching summer day on a parking lot of black asphalt.
The vendor-sponsored tent could be as simple as an open four-sided tent with large fans and a cooler with refreshments and light snacks. An assigned hospitality host answers event questions and provides a genuine, caring touch to make the experience memorable.
Want to take your car show to the next level in terms of prominence and regional prestige? Have your club provide next-level client experiences like a hospitality tent while reaping the financial rewards.
Interactive Events
Corvette car shows are usually attended by people of all ages who have one thing in common: they love Vettes. Typically, after a couple of hours of walking around and talking to other car owners, most people can be found looking for shade and a comfy chair to sit in until the trophies are handed out in three or four hours.
One way to keep people engaged at your event is to have something else for them to do during this lull in the action. Cornhole or some other interactive event, such as a fan belt toss or one of the dozens of other safe activities, can keep people entertained.
Cornhole is a game that anyone can enjoy. Anyone who can toss a bean bag 27 feet can participate in a game of cornhole.
This is one of the main factors that make cornhole such a go-to game when it comes to gatherings and parties.
As far as equipment goes, obviously, you will need a set or multiple sets of quality cornhole boards and pro-style resin-filled bags. The resin-filled bags offer the ability to use different techniques and styles of play.
If you are looking to have a legitimate regulation tournament, be sure to use tournament-size boards.
You could run a limited tournament, which would generate revenue and provide excitement.
A common payout is for 1st place – 60%, 2nd place – 30%, and 3rd place – 10% of half of the entry fees. The reason tournaments often do half the entry fees is so the remaining money can go towards the setup or venue provided by the tournament host.
The more you can keep the people interacting and involved, the more memorable and financially successful your event will be. All you need is a little creativity here.
Food Adds Fun
Many visitors come to your Corvette car show out of a love for chrome and leather, gears and conversation, slick paint schemes, and timeless automotive lines. Eventually, though, all thoughts turn to food.
Food can turn your one-dimensional car show into a must-attend event every year. Clubs in Kansas City, Memphis, and other areas routinely add barbecue to add greater value to the event.
It could be a cook-off challenge or something as simple as a row of pastry booths from local bakeries. A portion of the proceeds goes to the charity.
Keep in mind social event, such as your car show, needs to be branded in order to entice attendees. The availability of food at your event is your ace in the hole. People will be sure that they won’t get hungry at your event and will be more interested.
An array of food options will also encourage your visitors to stay longer. Let’s be honest: a satisfied guest is a happy guest. In short, your car show will stand out from other similar events if you provide more options than hot dogs and cheeseburgers.
As a side note, it’s also a noteworthy new trend to use edible marketing to promote your event. Edible cups and chocolate flyers will get many attendees excited.
Additional Revenue Is At Your Fingertips
As you can see, additional revenue streams are readily available for your car show. With just a bit of planning and preparation, you could see sizeable additional money for your event. These tips will also bring greater energy and excitement to your event as well.
