Want to put a smile on a Corvette owners face? Give them the chance to drive their Corvette on the 33 degree banked corners of Talladega Superspeedway and support our nation’s veterans while they’re doing it.

A win-win like that produces a broad grin every time.

That’s what Mark Davis, Founder & Chairman of the Board forVettes4Vets, offered Corvette enthusiasts as the value proposition for this annual fundraising event. We first spoke to Mark in January for the article, Vettes4Vets Gets Your Heart Pumping At Talladega Superspeedway.

Mark told us this is the kind of experience a Corvette enthusiast would remember for years to come and don’t you know, he was right.

Fun, Exhilarating, & Memorable

Chances are you’ve watched NASCAR racing at Talladega Superspeedway on television. So, in the back of your mind, you’re saying to yourself, “We’re just driving around a tri-oval. How challenging can this be?”

Reality hits you abruptly soon after you exit the pits and head for the first corner. The sheer height of the corners and 33-degree banking cause the hair on your neck to stand up, and your grip instinctively tightens on the steering wheel.

The corners seem to keep going up and up as if they’ll eventually touch the soft blue Alabama sky. Driving inside a colossal bowl is the best way to describe the sensation.

While the initial lap is in the first lane just above the track’s apron, it’s the banking angle and g-forces that command your immediate undivided attention.

For the remainder of the laps, they move you to the center lane with its more extreme degree of banking. Even when the speeds settle comfortably into the triple-digit range, you never lose the sensation you need to be going faster to stay on the corners.

Through it all, the Corvette felt planted, rock-solid, and born to the task. You get a deeper appreciation for the capabilities of America’s sportscar as you navigate it around this famed 2.66-mile tri-oval superspeedway.

A chance to get on the track at Talladega Superspeedway is a fun, exhilarating, and memorable driving event.

We would wholeheartedly recommend this adrenaline-pumping experience to every Corvette owner.

Vettes4Vets Delivers

The energetic Vettes4Vets team kept the busy Talladega track day running smoothly from start to finish. That was no small feat given all the Corvettes lined up to take a spin on NASCAR’s biggest and baddest track.

This team is well suited for this task. Vettes4Vets is comprised of Corvette owners and muscle car enthusiasts from across the southeast and the U.S.

Their Memorial Day fundraiser at the Talladega Superspeedway is always a busy day with hundreds of cars attending. The fundraiser typically draws over 250 Corvette and muscle car owners from across the nation and internationally.

This non-profit organization provides veterans in need with various support services through donations. They support homeless veterans, those in need of transportation, educational support, and personal, physical, and mental support.

They are unique in that they raise funds through entertainment events centered around automotive enthusiasts, focusing on Corvettes.

Blue Star Salute of Alabama

The volunteers of Blue Star Salute of Alabama were on hand to promote awareness and honor our military, veterans, and our fallen heroes.

Founded in December of 2005, this active non-profit 501c(3) corporation provides support in many ways.

They are active in the Wreaths Across America program, the Joel Adkins Memorial Veterans Assistance Fund, and National Veterans Day ceremonies.

In addition, this dedicated team also attends National Guard deployment ceremonies, and they provide service members with a Blue Star Service Banner.

Their Blue Star Salute event is an annual Armed Forces Day event to honor veterans who have served to protect our freedom. In 2020, the Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, AL, hosted their 16th annual event.

Day To Remember

Memorial Day is a time to mourn and remember the American service members who gave their country their lives. It is a somber occasion, a time to honor their ultimate sacrifice, not just the unofficial start of summer.

We’re thankful for Mark Davis, his Vettes4Vets team, and the Talladega Superspeedway for hosting this incredible driving event. We’re also grateful to the volunteers of Blue Star Salute of Alabama for keeping us grounded in the significance of this national day of remembrance.

For the hundreds of Corvette enthusiasts who attended, they won’t soon forget the day they took on the Talladega Superspeedway to support our fallen heroes.
